Art Quilts: page 1

itsbugart

Art Quilts are my main passion as you can see here! The phrase "It's Bug Art Man! It's Bug Art!" is a take-off on a line from a famous science-fiction film. Kudos to all who figure-out which film! I get a great deal of my inspiration from the natural world, especially when hiking with my dog in the woods and fields behind my apartment complex. Therefore my first show in 2002 contained several references to insects and spiders. Since then I have always added a bug in some form to every Art Quilt I make.

If you are interested in a specific artwork, please feel free to email me with your questions! I can send you more information and close-up pictures of the artwork in which you are interested.

NOTE! There is a 20 USD charge for shipping in addition to the cost of the artwork! Of course if you live nearby and pick-up the work yourself then there is no charge for shipping.

Roses/Rosor

I made this for my Voodoo show in 2008. Machine stitched with the dragonfly wings needle-felted with my Embellisher machine. Also acrylic beads, wire-ribbon roses and vintage buttons. 37 cm wide via 36 cm high.

I added the 3 green, vintage buttons after I'd added the back to the art quilt. Normally I NEVER do this since I prefer to look ahead to new projects instead of reworking old ones, but these 3 buttons really looked like they belonged there!

$200 USD (plus $20 USD shipping charge)

The medieval church

This is a view from one of the windows of the medieval church ruin in Brunn. As with all of my Art Quilts, there is a little bug somewhere in the picture. See if you can find it!

Larger works:

Dragonflies

Machine-quilted, hand-beaded and with felted standing stones done with my Babylock Embellisher needle-felting machine (so no one can say that they look like ding-dang coffins!!!). It is about 35 cm high by 50 cm wide. It's easy to find the bugs in this one at least!

37.5 cm via 50 cm. 2006.

$300 USD (plus $20 USD shipping charge)
